150+ years of packaging innovation

Since our founding in 1868, Greiner Packaging has grown from a small cork factory into a global leader in the plastic packaging industry. In 2014, we expanded our presence to the United States with the opening of our facility in Pittston, Pennsylvania.

Read more about our history in the US below.

1868 - 1959: A Family Business Takes Root

Founded by Carl Albert Greiner in Nürtingen, Germany, Greiner started as a cork manufacturer before expanding into plastic packaging. For nearly a century, the company built a reputation for precision and quality in manufacturing materials, setting the stage for future innovations.

1960-1986: From cork to plastic

The 1960s marked a pivotal shift as Greiner ventured into plastic packaging. With the purchase of injection molding machines, we pioneered innovative closures, containers, and packaging solutions that set new standards. This era saw the foundation of our expertise in sustainable plastic.

2000: Cardboard-plastic combinations

The early 2000s saw the launch of K3® technology, a cardboard-plastic combination that drastically reduced plastic content. Our growth continued with expanded facilities and new sustainability-driven R&D initiatives, ensuring we stayed at the forefront of packaging innovation.

2014 - Present: First business activities in North America

Greiner Packaging has opened its Pittston, Pennsylvania location, bringing sustainable packaging solutions to markets around the world.
