In December 2021, World Packaging Organization announced the winners of WorldStar Global Packaging Awards 2022. Cardbox Packaging, a joint-venture partner of Greiner Packaging, has been recognized with WorldStar Global Packaging Award in the Food category.

The cardboard spoon „Karlo“, originally developed for Greiner Packaging, is made of pure cardboard with water-based coating, thus, earns a high eco-friendly profile resulting in a sustainable packaging solution mainly for dairy and convenience food on the go. The spoon is easy to assemble, attach to the product, or insert into a lid. Due to the ban on disposable plastic cutlery in the EU from 2021, the spoon is an innovative and ecological alternative. Another advantage of the Karlo Spoon, lies in the printing possibilities, which makes an essential message to consumers.

It is another sustainable innovation of Cardbox Packaging which has been awarded. We are highly motivated that our solutions will be a part of our daily life in the future. We are very proud of our development team! We all should focus on effective innovations to make a positive impact on the environment.

Klaus Hockl, managing director of Cardbox Packaging group
