In the past, price was the most important decision-making criterion when choosing a supplier. Yet we’re pleased to note that sustainable practices are now increasingly in the spotlight.
Greiner Packaging is a member of EcoVadis, a global platform that issues CSR ratings. Businesses are evaluated based on their sustainability in four areas: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. As well as indicating the potential for improvement within a company, the EcoVadis ratings also play an important role in informing current and prospective customers’ decisions regarding future cooperation. However, sustainability cannot be practiced in isolation; it must be ensured along the entire value chain. The companies Greiner Packaging works with need to make a tangible contribution toward greater sustainability, too.
In addition to its annual assessment, EcoVadis also performs continuous 360-degree monitoring of partner companies, providing access to up-to-date information.
Greiner Packaging relies on several hundred suppliers, many of which are already evaluated by EcoVadis. We strongly believe that businesses that are willing to be assessed by EcoVadis or equivalent platforms are taking this issue seriously and working to ensure compliance throughout their supply chains. In addition, we view participation in EcoVadis or equivalent platforms in a positive light when selecting potential suppliers as well as in our regular evaluations of existing suppliers.
