For many people, a freshly brewed cup of coffee is the perfect way to start the day. A majority of households now use convenient capsules – like those produced by Greiner Packaging. The capsules are made from PP with an integrated barrier layer of EVOH. This multi barrier technology increases the oxygen barrier of the packaging. This solution protects the filled contents – in this case the coffee – against external influences, increasing the shelf life and providing better protection for the flavor.
Precise production process
We work with inline extrusion technology during production, which lets us guarantee that scrap will remain at a minimum. To promote sustainability, we’re also working to reduce the thickness of the barrier layer while maintaining the same oxygen barrier, striving to save material wherever possible, and analyzing alternative materials that could be used to produce capsules as well.
To ensure the optimum recyclability of our capsules, we are continuously working on design adjustments. They meet the requirements of legislation and the conditions in sorting and recycling facilities. There are many other ideas for making capsules more sustainable: Industrial solutions are also possible.
